Healthy Hometowns, Iowa's Rural Health Transformation Plan, has committed $15 million over 5 years toward rural radon testing and mitigation, as part of a broader $209 million effort to cut high rural cancer rates. The radon-specific portion is led by the Marion County Public Health Department alongside 67 county partners across the state.
The program is intended to fund radon test kits and mitigation scholarships for qualifying rural Iowa homeowners, helping cover costs that might otherwise put testing or a system install out of reach.
